Now that you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the most important decision you've ever made, what's next? You're still the same person with the same problems, right?WRONG!!! The depth of your relationship with your Savior depends on how much you learn about who you are in God's family - what this relationship entitles you to. There's simply no end to the miracles and blessings He wants to give His children. But learning to receive.....that's the hard part. We human beings are so accustomed to struggling and scraping and fighting to get what we want and need, that we have difficulty imagining a friend who will give us the desires of our hearts, just for the asking.
But it's true. And the way to learn about who you are and what He has in store for you is to get a bible and read, read, read, read, read. Now, I can remember a time when (having been born and raised Catholic) God's Word didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. It was difficult to follow and SO easy to loose interest in. But that was before I met Jesus. Things changed at that moment. I wanted to really get to know this new "friend" I had made. I told Him that I wanted to know His heart, his opinions, his thoughts. And I asked Him to show me where to go in the bible and to teach me what He wanted me to know. That was the beginning of the most wonderful relationship I've ever shared.
Open your heart. Open your mind. And let the Lord lead you through this new experience. Give Him your hand for Him to lead. Give Him your heart for Him to love. Give Him your mind for Him to teach. I promise you, the knowledge He will share, the assurance you will have of His love and faithfulness, will come close to overwhelming you.Talk to Him often. He longs for your companionship. He's not an unapproachable, untouchable diety. He's right here. Right beside you. Talk to Him about things on your mind. Treat Him like your best friend because that's what He wants to be! Share your worries and your troubles and expect Him to listen and want to help! And most of all, don't forget to say thanks!!!! Praise Him for your salvation. Praise Him for His friendship. Praise Him for His faithfulness.
